About Us

Our Family

Hi there, and welcome to Birch and Oak! I’m Roxanne—the soap-making, chicken-wrangling, coffee-fueled woman behind this family-run boutique and skincare line. My husband Keith, our lively crew, and I live out in Spencer County, where the air smells like fresh cut grass and tallow soap.

Our family keeps life full and messy in the best possible way. We’ve got two amazing daughters, Amelia and Stella, who make every day an adventure, and our little guy, Cooper, who’s basically a full-time job on his own. Our sweet Lydia, who we lost in 2018, is always in our hearts and inspires us to cherish the small things and live with purpose. Rounding out the chaos are Scout and Boris, our two dogs, and an absolutely absurd number of chickens, who run the property like they pay the mortgage.

Faith is the heart of everything we do. We believe God’s hand is in the big and small moments, and we’re constantly reminded of His blessings—whether it’s through the encouragement of our community, the opportunity to create products that make a difference, or even just the quiet of a Spencer County sunrise.

Birch and Oak began because I needed a natural, simple diaper cream for my girls and couldn’t find one that didn’t have a mile-long list of scary ingredients. So, I did what any slightly overwhelmed, sleep-deprived mom would do—I made my own. That one product turned into a passion for creating all-natural skincare, and now we offer everything from nourishing soaps to rich moisturizers, all made with care, love, and lots of tallow (seriously, it’s a game-changer).

We’re proud members of the Kentucky Proud program, which means we source local ingredients whenever possible and support other small businesses in our community. Every bar of soap and jar of tallow reflects our commitment to quality, sustainability, and keeping things simple.

Our boutique in Jeffersontown is an extension of our family. It’s where you’ll find not only our skincare line but also a collection of thoughtfully curated gifts and goods and the best salon in Jeffersontown. We want it to be a place where you can browse, chat, and leave with something that makes your day a little brighter. (And if you leave smelling amazing, that’s just a bonus.)

Thanks for stopping by and for supporting this dream of ours. Whether you’re a loyal customer or just stumbled upon us while Googling “what even is tallow,” we’re glad you’re here. .

With love (and a little chaos),

Roxanne and the Birch and Oak Family

P.S. Life isn’t perfect, but it smells a lot better with a bar of Birch and Oak soap in your shower. Trust me. 😉
